The elf screen defense is basically a giant game of chicken. The goal is to prevent him from moving more than one square and limiting his hitting power to one blitz a turn. He'll likely try to base your guys every turn at which point you must dodge away if you can't make an easy block. What this means is setting players three squares apart in lines so that the opponent can only move one square forward (like this elves are yellow). This is usually done after the opponent has caged. The second option is setting up an elf screen. Keeping the action on the ball carrier prevents your team from getting beat up too much and it can also force some mistakes from your opponent. The first option, when your opponent hasn't yet formed a cage (surrounding the ball carrier with 4 or more players), is to concentrate on getting the ball by invading their half of the field - usually this opportunity presents itself if you have a really good kick or they fail a pick up.
